Save the Boundary Waters is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that mobilizes a national coalition of 400+ conservation, access, hunting & fishing organizations, and businesses to permanently protect the Boundary Waters Wilderness, Superior National Forest, Voyageurs National Park, & Canada’s Quetico Provincial Park from copper mining. We unite people from all backgrounds to fight for this National treasure together.

The watershed of the Boundary Waters is threatened by toxic sulfide-ore copper mining. The BWCA is a refuge for people and the planet. It is one of the last remaining places to go for solitude and disconnection from the busy world and is a critical landscape for climate resilience. It is also home to the Anishinaabe people who stewarded this land for thousands of years. We are fighting to permanently block mining throughout the watershed though litigation, political advocacy, and science.

All funds raised will go towards our Boundary Waters Defense Fund, which will will empower us to respond swiftly and strategically to emerging threats to the Wilderness. The fund will go directly towards legal advocacy, legislative efforts, grassroots mobilization (rallying a powerful, unified public response to fight back against mining threats), and education & outreach (Building awareness and inspiring the next generation of Wilderness advocates).

The Boundary Waters is a fragile ecosystem and once mining has begun, the damage can never be reversed. Thank you for your consideration as we continue this fight!
