Marbleseed

Marbleseed takes a farmer-led approach that permeates its educational content and resource design, as well as its board, staff, and leadership teams, where most members are either current organic farmers, grew up on farms and in rural farming communities, or worked previously as farmers, ranchers, or farmworkers. Founded on the principles of farmer-to-farmer learning, Marbleseed’s work is rooted in the understanding that organic farmers know the challenges they face best, and their solutions.

Formerly known as the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES), Marbleseed was established in 1995 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to supporting farmers in their transition toward sustainable, organic farming systems that are ecologically sound, economically viable, and socially just. We work in community with small and medium-sized farms that are of human-scale, to support peer-to-peer learning with farmer-led programs, print and digital resources, and events.

Marbleseed’s programming is designed and driven by the urgent need for both equity in the organic farming movement and climate solutions. Our programming seeks to fill these gaps through farmer-led events such as our on-farm Field Days and Annual Organic Farming Conference, nurturing education, such as our Farmer-to-Farmer Mentorship Program and newly established programming around Farmer Mental Health First Aid.

We would use the funds to help provide scholarship for our farmer-to-farmer mentorship program, stipends for farmers to attend our annual Organic Farming conference, and printing costs for our numerous resources such as our quarterly publication, the Organic Broadcaster, factsheets, and guides for organic farmers.

We are so grateful to be submitting this application. Please let us know if you need any further information from our end!!
