BIPOC Foodways Alliance & Immigrant Kitchen
BIPOC Foodways Alliance breaks down silos between cultural communities using food as a tool. We provide a platform for women of color and immigrant women to tell their important cultural legacy stories through the lens of food.
BIPOC Foodways Alliance + BIPOC Foodways Alliance Table + Immigrant Kitchen seek to break down silos between cultural communities using food as a tool. We provide a platform for women of color and immigrant women to share their important cultural legacy stories through the lens of food. We uplift, examine, preserve, and share the food stories of all BIPOC people, locally and around the world.
We seek to be inclusive. Rather than silo individual cultural expressions, we understand that U.S. BIPOC experiences are more similar than different. We seek to create cohesiveness through food, culinary expressions, and experiences. We believe that our BIPOC communities, as well as white allies, are stronger together.
We would use this donation to fund more of our community dinners. There is a demand for our Immigrant Kitchen dinners that we are currently unable to fulfill, because we keep our ticketing prices intentionally low, while simultaneously paying all of our BIPOC staff and creators a living wage. We would like to expand our programming so that more of our community may participate.
Our Immigrant Kitchen programming is a direct response to the discrimination and derogatory rhetoric that our immigrant communities are facing today. Using food as a time-honored means of understanding, we can create more unity in our communities, while honoring all of our neighbors and newcomers to our state.
