Instructor Alberth Chacon Salas is a Peruvian artist, illustrator and cartoonist based in Minneapolis. His work explores human-animal relationships through comics, visual storytelling, and mixed media, often blending elements of fantasy and science fiction. Alberth earned his MFA in Illustration from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where he also worked as a teaching assistant. His practice combines traditional and digital methods, including graphite, pastels, ink, watercolor, and digital tools. Alberth’s illustrations often center on nonhuman characters, mythic symbolism, and magical realism, inviting viewers to reflect on cultural identity and interconnection. He has contributed to several comic anthologies and exhibited his work in both the United States and Peru.
