Ian Peters

Ian Peters is an environmental scientist at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and their interests lie at the intersection of geology, human development, and public policy. At the MPCA they lead projects on abandoned properties with contaminated soil and groundwater, facilitating cleanup and redevelopment into affordable housing, retail spaces, and community centers throughout the state. Ian's expertise in environmental science and their love for Minnesota has spurred their interest in Midwestern farm industry, food security, food systems, and the rich history of co-ops in Minnesota. 

Ian was elected to the board in 2025. They grew up in Duluth, MN, and they moved to Minneapolis in 2022. In their personal life, Ian is an avid Dungeons & Dragons player, an amateur guitarist, and a skilled home cook
