Twin Cities Metro Growers Network
The Twin Cities Metro Growers Network aims to connect anyone who grows produce seriously and seeks education, networking, and fellowship. Whether you grow for market, personal or community use, or to rediscover indigenous and ethnic roots, if you want to network with like-minded people in the metro, this group is for you.
The Twin Cities Metro Growers Network is a networking group of the Sustainable Farming Association operated in collaboration with the U of MN Extension specifically focused on the unique needs of urban growers. TCMG has fostered skills development and community building among growers in the Twin Cities Metro area since 2019 and hosts grower-led educational events focused on the needs of urban growers, covering topics like the challenges around land and water access in urban settings and more.
TCMG’s educational and networking events provide urban farmers with best practices and innovative solutions for overcoming common challenges specific to their urban environment through instruction and hand-on learning opportunities for implementing sustainable agricultural practices, increasing efficiency, and improving productivity. By offering a platform to discuss common issues and solutions, we empower farmers to take control of their practices and make informed decisions.
Funds will support our goal of strengthening community connection and increasing knowledge and skills among urban growers. We will use these funds for needed materials and supplies for educational and networking events which will impart knowledge to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall urban farm management as well as provide the opportunity for urban farmers to connect, share experiences, and build community that fosters mutual support and collaboration.
Our events provide the structure and opportunity for urban farmers to meet and form relationships with each other as well as community leaders, ag experts, ag service providers and agencies, and advocates, creating opportunities for collaboration and partnerships and opening avenues to access critical resources and tools. By fostering these connections, we build a sense of community and collective purpose, which is essential for building resilience and a shared vision in urban agriculture.
