Tree Trust

Tree Trust transforms lives and landscapes in the Twin Cities through environmental education, tree planting, and green industry workforce training. Each year, with the help of eager community members, we plant, mulch, prune, and water thousands of trees to keep our cities green. Hundreds of local young people hone essential 21st-century job skills through our Career Pathways programs annually, all while earning a paycheck and gaining hands-on experience in tree care and landscaping projects.

Tree Trust’s mission is to transform lives and landscapes by engaging people to build skills for meaningful careers, inspiring people to plant trees, and making our community a greener, healthier place to live. We do this through green industry and skilled trade Career Pathways training for young people, Community Forestry tree plantings and environmental education, and professional Landscape Services contracting.

For 49 years, Tree Trust has combined our twin passions of investing in youth and stewarding the environment through forestry initiatives and youth workforce training. A healthy tree canopy provides countless environmental benefits, and we work each year to plant and care for trees in our urban forest. Youth work alongside professionals, learning skills for environmental careers and simultaneously investing in local green spaces through forestry, landscaping, and landscape construction projects.

A Seedlings donation will help make it possible to bring our Learning with Trees™ program to a local school in 2026. Funds will help buy trees, mulch, stakes, and other supplies. Students spend a week exploring environmental education and the benefits of trees through our mobile, hands-on exhibit. They then help us plant 20-30 trees and install an outdoor classroom at their school, providing shade and learning spaces that they and future generations of students will enjoy.

Learning with Trees is a popular program, and we receive many applications each year. A Seedlings donation will help make it possible to serve one of these schools, and we will prioritize using the funds for a planting at a school in the areas served by Eastside Co-op. Co-op staff are also invited to attend the planting and see the fun in action! We provide all the necessary supplies and instructions for volunteers to assist students in planting their trees.
