Eastside Meals on Wheels

Eastside Meals on Wheels dedicates itself to providing essential support to seniors aged 60 and older who cannot prepare their own meals. Operating five days a week, our warm and nutritious meal deliveries are crucial for those facing challenges in shopping and cooking independently. Beyond nourishment, our volunteer interactions combat social isolation, enhance safety through regular checks, and contribute to holistic elderly care.

Many of our clients struggle with food insecurity, making it challenging to afford balanced meals while managing other essential expenses like utilities and medications. Eastside Meals on Wheels ensures these seniors receive up to seven meals per week, relieving financial stress and promoting peace of mind.

Our services support independence by enabling seniors to remain in their homes longer and yield broader societal benefits. Regular meal deliveries and safety checks reduce anxiety and loneliness, lower hospital readmission rates, and prevent falls among elderly recipients. Studies show that most older adults prefer aging in place due to its affordability compared to institutional care.

As a public-private partnership, Eastside Meals on Wheels receives crucial seed funding from the federal government, covering approximately 40% of our operational costs. However, we rely on donations from individuals and businesses to bridge the remaining gap, ensuring we can continue subsidizing meals for those unable to contribute financially.

Supporting Eastside Meals on Wheels provides essential nutrition, fosters community, and alleviates loneliness for our senior clients, contributing to their overall well-being and quality of life.
