Division of Indian Work

DIW is a Native-led and Native-governed non-profit in south Minneapolis. Our culturally-based programming provides our small urban community with resources not always available in traditional health, employment and educational spaces.

The Division of Indian Work (DIW) has been a key contributor to the Native community for over 70 years. Our mission is to support and strengthen urban American Indian people through culturally-based education, traditional healing approaches, and leadership development.

DIW's Horizons Unlimited Food Shelf offer food access to our urban American Indian Community.

DIW's backyard space, rain barrels, solar panels, and traditional plantings provide environmental education to youth and program participants.

DIW's Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP) offer after-school and summer education to youth.

DIW would use funding for our traditional giveaway basket during the spring, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holidays, along with using the donation to purchase traditional items from local Indigenous vendors and within community. These items may include wellness baskets, composting bags, and materials for arts & culture classes.
